I have spent nearly three decades exploring what happens when new technology meets the right people, a real problem and the willingness to try something that does not yet have a name.
I first came across the Internet in 1994 while visiting the University of Georgia. I was studying communication rather than computer science, but I wanted to understand how it worked. Three years later, Stefan Salzbrunn and I founded Interlake. That curiosity has been the common thread ever since.
Not a complete CV. A few threads that have kept showing up: building things, bringing people together, testing new technologies and asking what they mean beyond the technology itself.
Founded in 1997, Interlake has moved through several generations of digital technology — from web applications and e-learning to media technology, cloud infrastructure and AI. The business changed because the technology changed. Curiosity stayed.
I like constellations in which people, companies and institutions that would not normally work together suddenly can.
Technology is interesting when it changes what people can do. It becomes important when it changes how we think, decide, work and live.
Two places with very different rhythms, both good for thinking. Add an old electric boat, an occasional square-rigger and a table with enough chairs.
